Eternal Love In China

The age we live in is a cynical, selfish, and insensitive one and also quite tacky, tasteless, vulgar, and very unRomantic at times. Like a character in one of my favorite Romantic films Mississippi Masala mused, 'There is so little love in the world, yet so much.' And like the old song says, "What the world needs now is love, sweet love. That's the only thing that there's just too little of."I discovered a love story that was the talk of China concerning the couple above. To begin their story, the husband carved his wife 6000 steps! The rest can be read here.It should be remembered that love like hate or indifference is a CHOICE.

Absolutely loved the story.

I am sad that the lady lost her husband, he was a lovely, sensative and romantic man. But how lucky was she! She got to spend a lifetime with him!

Ardent,

I wish I had the Romantic spirit of these two, to just pull up all roots and move to a cave or be semi-poor in Istanbul with the one I love:) Perhaps I will get there...

"All you need is love." Well, over 50 years ago I think it was easier everywhere to do this because most people did not have luxuries and TV and the media which makes us all in various ways pine for the "good life."

With the Chinese getting richer nowadays and getting more exposure to western goodies, young Chinese probably won't be too quick to throw caution to the wind and strike out to the unknown.

These two came from a more innocent time. There needs to be more such innocence because if we look at such people like Britney Spears (the most prominent current example we have over here) money and things don't always equal happiness. These people were together over 50 years and it seems very happy and contented. How many people in mansions can say they have experienced what these two shared? My maternal grandparents were married for 50 years (they were extremely poor in the beginning) and very happy:)
