Romance: Not Welcome In Saudi Arabia

Seems that even the concept of a red rose is a threat to morals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Read here what the moral police is doing to make sure there are no thoughts of Romance for Valentine's Day.
In preparation for Thursday, Emma Alvarez has posted about that loveable bad boy of mythology and symbol of love and Valentines, Cupid. In my next post I will write about the legend of St. Valentine.

The picture of the rose bleeding is so appropriate. Personally, even though I think Valentines Day, Mother's day, Father's Day, Christmas has become very commercialized, I would be disappointed if I did not receive a romantic gesture from someone.

Sincerae, Happy Valentines day to you.

Ardent,

I decided to remove the dead Cupid because maybe it was a little offensive.

Happy Valentine's Day to you too!

Good one, these Saudi Rulers are actually very insecure about the attractiveness of their 'religion'.

absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
outlaw Valentine's Day

confiscate ALL red roses
keep men and women apart

absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
arrest men and women

if they are holding hands
or having coffee together

absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
Valentine's Day is evil

it just reminds the people
about Christianity

Uspace,

I feel that everyone has a right to free will. That is not license for immorality, however. Still roses and the color red are harmless.

These people not only assault and restrain freedom but beauty and love as well. In the end they create a very dull and soulless way of life.

More and more young people in places like Saudi Arabia are hungry for freedom of choice and self determination. I hope they can break the chains.

The flip side of this what is happening here in the US. Note this article:

I understand somewhat the Saudi's side too because we have the opposite extreme here. I am at a school today where the teenagers are coming in with their babies and toddlers in strollers.

In many other muslim countries like Kuwait, Sudan, Iran, Nigeria (part) etc. valentine's day was not allowed.
I have a nice picture of pakistani burning 'harts' on v-day pictures.
